If you are getting ready to do a major cleaning and de-cluttering on your home, you will want to utilize the services of a junk removal company. But before you go ahead and hire one, you need to start organizing your home and figure out what items you want to get rid of. The key to doing this not overwhelming yourself, so follow these tips on what not to do when getting ready to de-clutter your home.

First Organize, Then Buy

You don't want to go out and buy a lot of storage units before you sort through the items. First of all, you're only going to have a bunch of empty storage containers lying around, and that's not going to do you any good. You need to know exactly what items you'll be placing them in, as well as where you will be storing them. Your best bet is to organize the items first so you know exactly what you are working with. 

Don't Overwhelm Yourself

Don't try to do the entire home in one day. You will get tired fast, and you won't finish the job. It's best to spend a few hours a day for a few days (and not necessarily straight) to get the job done right. Otherwise you'll become distracted and bored; you won't put forth the effort you should be in order to take this chore seriously.

Finishing the Job Means Finishing the Job

You will need to sort through things and divide them up into categories: What you'll toss, what you'll keep, what you'll give away, and what you'll donate. Once you've divided everything up, you need to make sure that you follow through: if you're giving items to a charity, bring them to that charity immediately. Recognize When You Are Finished

As long as the area that you were organizing can function again, you've done your job.
