Three Types Of Cranes

Hello, my name is Emily Green. Welcome to my website about home maintenance and repairs performed by general contractors. When I bought my first house, absolutely everything was in perfect condition. After living there for several months, however, I started to notice a slight decline in the finishes of certain materials in my house. I suspected that the items needed care, but I did not know how to proceed. A general contractor helped me learn everything I needed to know about home maintenance and repairs. I created this site to share this knowledge with my readers. Come by again soon to learn more.

When you have to consider renting a crane, it is not as easy as going to a heavy-machinery rental facility and asking for a crane. Instead, you need to know that cranes are purpose-built to handle certain working conditions. Thus, you need to know enough about your needs to at the very least discuss what kind of crane you need. Having an idea of what kind for cranes are out there will also help you to get the right crane for your needs.

Loader Crane

A loader crane is attached to the back of a truck or trailer and is used to lift loads onto the platform to which it is attached. You could use such a crane to lift the engine out of a car or truck, take it to your mechanic shop, then return it to the vehicle you removed it from. You could also use a loader crane to load boxes or equipment onto the back of a truck. While you will likely want to buy a crane at some point if you have a consistent need for a loader crane, it may be more economically feasible to rent one in the beginning.

Tower Crane

A tower crane consists of a base in the form of a tower and a crane arm that is used to lift objects into place. Such cranes are useful in building tall buildings. You can even buy or rent self-erecting cranes, meaning you can use the crane to lift sections of the tower into place so that the crane can grow as each successive level of the building is erected. If you are transitioning into building tall buildings, it may be again helpful to rent a tower crane while you acquire the capital to buy one.

Telescopic Crane

A telescopic crane will have a boom consisting of sections that slip inside the previous section. This means that you can keep the sections of the crane retracted for smaller jobs, then extend the sections to allow you to handle larger jobs. This makes a telescoping crane a versatile option for someone whose business is just expanding to need a crane.

These are just a few of the types of cranes that you could rent, but they should at least give you an indication of what types of variables you need to consider when choosing a crane. If you are still not quite sure what type of a crane you will need, you should talk over your situation with a company that rents cranes, such as HB Crane Services, so they can use their expertise to suggest a crane that will work for your needs.
